Our faculty’s 2026–2027 Academic Year Opening Ceremony was held in the 100th Anniversary Hall of the Buhara Building.
The ceremony was attended by our Rector, Prof. Dr. Uğur Ünal; our Vice Rectors, Prof. Dr. Necdet Hayta, Prof. Dr. Hasan Tezer, and Prof. Dr. Serhat Karyeyen; our Secretary General, Mustafa Afşar; academic and administrative staff; retired faculty members; and students.
Speaking at the event, our Rector, Prof. Dr. Uğur Ünal, emphasized Gazi University’s 100-year tradition of education and science, highlighting the importance of carrying the university’s deep-rooted legacy into the future. Prof. Dr. Ünal expressed his hope that the new academic year would be successful and productive for students, faculty members, and our university.
Our Dean, Prof. Dr. Şevki Demirbaş, highlighted the faculty’s long-standing educational tradition, applied engineering education, and research and project activities, stressing the importance of training students to become qualified engineers equipped not only with theoretical knowledge but also with practical skills, project development abilities, and problem-solving skills. Prof. Dr. Demirbaş stated that continuously improving the quality of education and ensuring greater student participation in research and project work are among the top priorities for the new academic year.
At the ceremony, which marked not only the start of the new academic year but also celebrated academic achievements, a robe-wearing ceremony was held for faculty members who had been promoted to higher academic ranks and positions. Faculty members promoted to the ranks of professor, associate professor, and assistant professor donned their robes and formally received their new titles during the ceremony.
As part of the program, plaques of appreciation were also presented to faculty members who retired after many years of service. Certificates of achievement were also awarded to high-achieving students from various departments within the faculty.
The ceremony, which was also attended by new students, concluded with best wishes for a successful, productive, and fruitful 2026–2027 academic year for our students, academic staff, and administrative personnel.
