**KİM-101 CHEMISTRY-I (3+1) 3**

Basic concepts in chemistry: Substance, element, compound, mole, mixture and some chemical concepts. Important laws of chemistry: Conservation of mass, constant ratios, multiple ratios, etc. Atomic and molar mass. Symbols, formulas, equations and compounds. Simple formula, determination of molecular formula. Valence concept, spelling and naming of compound formulas. Chemical reactions and chemical equations, stoichiometry. Oxidation reduction reactions (redox). Periodic table and some atomic properties: Electronegativity, ionization energy, electron affinity, quantum numbers and electron orbitals. Gases: Simple gas laws, ideal gas equation, kinetic theory of gases, real gases. Thermochemistry: Heat, heat of reaction and calorimetry. Chemical bonds: Basic concepts: Covalent and ionic bonds. Liquids, solids and intermolecular forces. Solutions and their physical properties. Chemical balance. Acids, bases and aqueous solution equilibria. Thermodynamics: Some terms, laws of thermodynamics, Hess's law, Gibbs free energy. Electrochemistry: Faraday's laws, electrolysis, battery potential, Nernst equation. Organic Chemistry: Classification of organic compounds. Hydrocarbons (alkanes, alkenes and alkynes), alcohols, phenols, ethers, aldehydes and ketones. Carboxylic acids and their derivatives.

Real and complex numbers, polynomials, quadratic equations with one unknown. Solution of radical, fractional equations and quadratic equations. Root coefficient relations and solution of inequalities in quadratic equations. Solution of Determinant and Linear Equations, Line Equation in Plane, Vectors, Logarithm. Basic economic concepts, general information and definitions about business economics. Business types, establishment location selection and analysis, analysis of general business functions (Production, Marketing, Management, Finance, Personnel, R&D). Analysis of management functions. Needs, goods and services, utility-value, analysis of factors of production, enterprise and its types. Economic doctrines, price mechanism. Consumption theory, production theory, market and price formations. Monetary and monetary systems, monetary policy, cost-income and employment, foreign trade.

**MAT-201 DIFFERENTIAL EQUATIONS (4-0) 4**

Differential equation definition and primitive function. First order differential equations (separable differential equations, exact differential equations, homogeneous differential equations, linear differential equations, Benoulli differential equation) and solution techniques. Applications of first order differential equations. Second order differential equations and their solution methods; homogeneous solution, order reduction, homogeneous solution of linear differential equations with constant coefficients, different real roots, multiple roots, complex roots, inhomogeneous solutions.
