The 8th International Conference on Nuclear and Renewable Energy Sources (NURER2026) was held on September 10–11, 2026, in Almaty, Kazakhstan.

Hosted by Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, the conference addressed current topics such as nuclear and renewable energy technologies, hydrogen, energy storage, smart grids, and artificial intelligence applications. The conference was chaired by Prof. Dr. Hacı Mehmet Şahin, a faculty member of our Department of Energy Systems Engineering.

During the conference, discussions were also held aimed at developing international academic collaborations. In a meeting with Prof. Dr. Zhanseit Tuimebayev, Rector of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, potential joint academic projects, student exchange programs, and collaborative master’s and doctoral studies that could be carried out with Gazi University were evaluated. Also participating in the meeting were Assoc. Prof. Dr. Güven Tunç from our faculty, Prof. Dr. Nurzada Beissen, Dean of the Faculty of Physics and Technology, and Prof. Dr. Mansurova Madina, Dean of the Faculty of Mechanics and Mathematics.
