16th European Conference on Renewable Energy Systems (16th Conference on Renewable Energy Systems) and the 6th International Conference on Mechanical Engineering (6th International Conference on Mechanical Engineering) were held in London, England, from July 7–9, 2026, under the leadership of our faculty member Prof. Dr. Erol KURT, with our university and Imperial College—a renowned higher education institution in the United Kingdom—serving as local organizers. With participants from 20 different countries, the conferences addressed and discussed current topics of interest in both energy systems and mechanical engineering. At the event, which facilitated new international collaborations, Prof. Dr. Peter Haynes, representing Imperial College as the local organizing institution, and our university’s faculty member Prof. Dr. Erol Kurt each delivered opening remarks emphasizing the importance of international scientific and technical collaboration. As invited speakers at the conferences, Prof. Dr. Goran Strbac from Imperial College presented on “Optimization and cost-effective behavior of zero-carbon-based systems,” and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mazdak Ghajari delivered a presentation on “Brain mechanics and the investigation of their biological effects from a mechanical engineering perspective”—both of which were highly engaging.
