With the contributions of Stanford University scientist Prof. John P. A. Loannidis, the list of the most cited academics in the world has been published in the Elsevier database in two separate formats, "career-long" and "last year". Scientists are categorised into 22 fields of science and 174 subfields according to the standard Science-Metrix classification. Field- and subfield-specific percentiles were also created for all scientists with at least 5 articles. Scopus data provided by Elsevier through ICSR Lab (https://www.elsevier.com/icsr/icsrlab) were used in this study.
In these rankings, where citation information is taken as a criterion, a total of 204,643 scientists worldwide managed to be included in the "career-long" list and 210,198 scientists in the "recent year" list. In Turkey, 1395 research scientists were included in the "recent year" list and 1040 research scientists were included in the "career-long" list.
9 scientists from our faculty were ranked in the "last year" list and 8 scientists were ranked in the "career-long" list. We congratulate the scientists from our faculty and wish them continued success.
