Within the scope of Research University Monitoring, Evaluation and Sustainability Meetings, the activities carried out in 8 months for the target indicators for 2023 were discussed at the meeting held in our Faculty on 28 September 2023.

Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Ramazan Bayındır, Dean Prof. Dr. Musa ATAR, Director of the Institute of Natural and Applied Sciences Assoc. Prof. Dr. Uğur GÖKMEN, Assistant Deans Assoc. Dr. Orhan KAPLAN and Assoc. Dr. Mustafa Bahadır ÖZDEMİR, Institutional Data Management Coordinator Prof. Dr. Fatih Emre BORAN and faculty members attended the meeting held in the Taşkent Building Conference Hall under the chairmanship of our Rector Prof. Dr. Musa Yıldız.

Our Rector Prof. Dr. Musa Yıldız, who made the opening speech of the meeting, pointed out that important changes have been experienced in higher education institutions in recent years and emphasised that Gazi University is one of the 3 state universities that succeeded in obtaining 5-year full Institutional Accreditation among 30 higher education institutions in 2022 with the evaluation of YÖKAK and said, "One of our great achievements was our rise from A3 category to A2 category in the ranking of research universities; Our university is ranked not only by YÖKAK, YÖK and TÜBİTAK, but also by different international rating agencies worldwide and in Turkey".

Prof. Dr. Musa Yıldız stated in his speech that when the 8-month realisations of the 2023 target indicators are examined, the units have achieved their targets to a large extent, but there are also unrealised targets. Yıldız said, "In order to increase the realisation of the 2023 target indicators, your feedback is received at various focus and stakeholder meetings organised with the contributions of our Research and Development Administrative Units under the leadership of the Research and Development Institution Coordinatorship. I sincerely believe that with this monitoring process, all the targets given to you at the end of 2023 will be achieved. I would like you to know that it is very important to make the best use of the remaining 3 months until the end of the year and in this context, the remaining 3 months will be followed by me personally."

In his evaluation speech, Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Ramazan Bayındır emphasised the institutions to which the university provides data. Prof. Dr. Bayındır said, "We are trying to provide data for "YÖK University Monitoring and Evaluation", "Research Performance Indicators" and "Entrepreneurial and Innovative University Indices". In total, there are three different databases and data entry is provided. In the University Monitoring and Evaluation criteria, performance evaluations are made under five headings: education and training, research and development, internationalisation, sustainability, community service and social responsibility. Within the scope of Research Performance Indicators, which is another title that we emphasise, evaluations are made under three titles: research capacity, research quality and interactive cooperation, and in the Entrepreneurial and Innovative University Indices, evaluations are made under four titles: scientific and technological research activity, intellectual property pool, cooperation and initiative, economic and social contribution. In line with the targets set in these headings, we will share with you what we have done so far as an institution and what we can do for sustainability in the following process."

Underlining that we are in the top ten with other universities in terms of quality, capacity and cooperation, Prof. Dr. Bayındır said, "The part that left us behind in this process was the issue of cooperation. We continue to increase and maintain our efforts in this regard."

After Prof. Dr. Ramazan Bayındır, our Dean Prof. Dr. Musa ATAR took the floor and mentioned the targets achieved in the first 8 months of 2023 in the context of research and development studies carried out within our faculty. In his presentation, our Dean shared with the participants the data that have been successful on the basis of the faculty in the ratios included in the 2023 target indicators and the values that are being followed. The meeting, which was chaired by our Rector Prof. Dr. Musa Yıldız, ended after the collective photo shoot with our faculty members participating in the meeting.
